_Sips coffee while typing_
Y’all, let me tell you about my grandmother’s secret French toast casserole that literally had my neighbors begging for the recipe last weekend! This isn’t your basic French toast – this is the “make your in-laws finally approve of you” kind of breakfast magic.
Listen up, because this overnight sensation is about to change your breakfast game forever. The best part? You can prep it the night before, which means more beauty sleep for us! 😉
What You’ll Need (trust me on these):
– 1 loaf of brioche bread (slightly stale works best, honey!)
– 6 large eggs
– 2 cups whole milk (don’t you dare use skim!)
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1/2 cup maple syrup (the real stuff, not the fake business)
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 tbsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– Pinch of salt
For the to-die-for crumb topping:
– 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1/2 cup flour
– 1 tsp cinnamon
Okay queens, here’s what you’re gonna do:
1. Grease a 9×13 baking dish (I use butter because we’re not counting calories today)
2. Cut that brioche into chunky cubes – about 1-inch pieces
3. Whisk together your eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until it’s smoother than your favorite face serum
Now, here’s where the magic happens! Layer those bread cubes in your dish and pour that custard mixture all over it. Make sure every piece gets some love!

For the crumb topping, get your hands dirty! Mix the cold butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until it looks like coarse crumbs. Cover everything and pop it in the fridge overnight.
The next morning:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F
2. Take the casserole out of the fridge while the oven heats up
3. Sprinkle that crumb topping all over
4. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden brown and slightly puffy
Y’all, when this comes out of the oven, the smell alone will have your entire household floating to the kitchen like in those old cartoons!
Serve it warm with some maple syrup, fresh berries, and maybe a dollop of whipped cream if you’re feeling extra fancy (which you should be, because you just made something amazing!).
Can we talk about how this recipe is basically breakfast therapy? Because nothing says “I’ve got my life together” like pulling this bad boy out of the oven for weekend brunch with the girls!
