Oh. My. Goodness. Ladies and gents, get ready to have your taste buds do a happy dance! Today, I’m sharing my absolute favorite comfort food recipe that’s been passed down through generations of farmers’ kitchens – a heavenly Country Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding that’ll make your grandma jealous!
Let me tell you, this isn’t your basic bread pudding. This is the kind of dessert that’ll have your family fighting over the last piece (speaking from experience, honey! 😉).
What You’ll Need:
– 6 cups day-old bread cubes (I use brioche because I’m fancy like that)
– 3 farm-fresh eggs (support your local farmers, y’all!)
– 2 cups whole milk
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 2 large apples, diced (Honeycrisp are my fave)
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 2 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– 1/4 cup melted butter
– Pinch of salt
For the caramel drizzle:
– 1/2 cup butter
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup heavy cream
Now, before we continue, if you’re loving this recipe already, make sure to follow me on Newsbreak for more drool-worthy recipes that’ll make your kitchen the most popular spot in the house!
Let’s get cooking:
1. Preheat that oven to 350°F (180°C). Trust me, patience is key here!
1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth. (Pro tip: If you’re wearing mascara, be careful with that whisking, girlfriend! 😂)
1. Toss in those bread cubes and diced apples, giving everything a gentle stir. Let it sit for 15 minutes to soak up all that goodness. (This is the perfect time to scroll through social media, just saying!)
1. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 baking dish, then add your bread mixture.
1. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and slightly crispy on top. The middle should be set but still slightly jiggly – kind of like me after Christmas dinner!
While it’s baking, let’s make that caramel drizzle:
1. Melt butter in a saucepan
2. Add brown sugar and cream
3. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes until thickened
Y’all, when this comes out of the oven, your kitchen will smell like heaven! Drizzle that warm caramel sauce over the top and watch the magic happen.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to dig in right away, but give it 10 minutes to set (I know, the waiting is torture!).
Can we talk about how amazing this turned out? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Did you make any tweaks? Did your family love it as much as mine does?
