Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to satisfy those late-night cravings with this absolutely divine Chinese-inspired snack that’ll make your taste buds dance! As someone who’s constantly experimenting in the kitchen (much to my husband’s amusement), I’ve perfected these crispy sesame-coated cream cheese wontons that are seriously to die for.
Trust me, once you try these bad boys, you’ll be sneaking to the kitchen at midnight more often than you’d like to admit! 😉
What You’ll Need:
– Wonton wrappers (found in most Asian grocery stores)
– Cream cheese (room temperature)
– Green onions, finely chopped
– Garlic powder
– White pepper
– Sesame oil
– Sweet chili sauce
– Sesame seeds
– Vegetable oil for frying
Okay, girlfriends (and guys!), let’s get cooking!
1. First, mix 8 oz of cream cheese with 2 tablespoons of finely chopped green onions, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, a pinch of white pepper, and a few drops of sesame oil. Blend until smooth and creamy.
1. Place about a teaspoon of the mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Don’t get too excited and overfill them – we’re not making dumplings here!
1. Wet the edges with water and fold into triangles, pressing out any air bubbles. Girl, make sure those edges are sealed tight – we don’t want any cheese explosions!

1. Heat oil in a pan (about 2 inches deep) to 350°F. While waiting, sprinkle some sesame seeds on one side of your wontons.
1. Fry these beauties for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. They should look like little golden pillows of happiness!
1. Drain on paper towels and serve with sweet chili sauce.
Pro tip: If you’re feeling fancy (or lazy), you can actually make these ahead and freeze them. Just fry them straight from frozen when the midnight munchies hit!
These wontons are seriously addictive – I may or may not have eaten half a batch while writing this recipe… Don’t judge me! They’re perfectly crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and that sweet chili sauce adds just the right kick.
