Decadent bread pudding drizzled with bourbon sauce, crowned with caramelized bananas and a delicate snow of powdered sugar

Hey there, foodies! Today I’m super excited to share one of my absolute favorite local recipes that’s perfect for those lazy afternoon cravings. Let me tell you about my Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce – it’s seriously to die for!

Y’all, this isn’t your grandma’s bread pudding (though we love her recipe too!). This bad boy combines the comfort of traditional bread pudding with a tropical twist that’ll make your taste buds dance.

What you’ll need (trust me, it’s worth the grocery trip):
– 6 ripe bananas (the spottier, the better!)
– Day-old brioche bread (about 8 cups, cubed)
– 4 eggs (room temperature, please!)
– 2 cups whole milk
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– Pinch of salt

For the bourbon sauce (because why not?):
– 1/2 cup butter
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup bourbon (I won’t judge if you add a splash more 😉)
– 1/2 cup heavy cream

Okay honey, let’s get cooking! First, preheat that oven to 350°F. While that’s heating up, let me spill the tea on how to make this heavenly dessert.

1. Slice those bananas and caramelize them in a pan with a bit of butter and brown sugar until they’re golden brown and smelling amazing.

1. In a large bowl, whisk together your eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, and spices until well combined. Girl, your kitchen is about to smell incredible!

1. Layer half your bread cubes in a buttered 9×13 baking dish, top with half the caramelized bananas, then repeat the layers.

1. Pour that custard mixture all over, making sure every piece of bread gets some love. Let it sit for about 30 minutes – perfect time to scroll through my other recipes on Newsbreak! 😘

1. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and slightly jiggly in the center.

While it’s baking, let’s make that bourbon sauce (my personal favorite part):
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan
2. Add brown sugar and whisk until dissolved
3. Pour in that bourbon (careful with the splashing!)
4. Add cream and simmer until thickened

Y’all, when this comes out of the oven, you’re gonna want to snap a pic because it’s absolutely gorgeous! Drizzle that warm bourbon sauce all over and watch your family fight over the last piece.

Real talk: this recipe has been a total game-changer at my family gatherings, and I just know it’ll be the same for you! Don’t forget to leave a comment below and let me know how it turned out – I absolutely love hearing from you all!
